Strip Silence GREYED

Hi, I've followed the instructions below several times but it's still 'greyed' out. Can anyone help? Thanks Richard

1.Open 'PREFERENCES' from the drop down menu at the top, and go to the "ADVANCED" tab then click the check-boxes for "Show Additional Tools" and "Audio". Now close preferences window.

2. In your main window click the down arrow icon to show your Toolbar (UPPER LEFT-HAND CORNER), then right click on your toolbar and select Customize Toolbar, check the box next to "Strip Silence" this will now work and won't be greyed out.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

You must select an Audio region... and then go to Strip Silience

Thanks for the fast reply! This will sound silly but... How do I select an Audio region? I've clicked on the track and it's got the thick white line along it.

You have to add or create an audio region (Not a midi region).... and then click on it...

Example:

Create an Audio Track... and drag an Audio Apple Loop to the track you just created...

Now click on it to select it...

and check the Strip Silence and it will not be grey'd out.. 🙂

I've followed your Gif and it worked on the Loop. But it doesn't work on the Audio tracks I've recorded.

Are you sure its an audio region and not a midi region that you are selecting?

Hi, I discovered that it works on regions that are one take - without drop ins. Would I have to somehow reduce, consolidate or group together the track's drop ins so that it's one track ('one take' in appearance)?

Merge and flatten the take folder. Its under the arrow on the take folder (region)

Yes.. as DSS quite rightly said, flatten as Strip Silence wont work on takes...
