What happens when you try? Are you trying to update OTA or via iTunes? How much available memory do you have on your device? Without information it is difficult to help.

    Hi Gail,

What happens when I try?  1. IPad "checks for update." 2. The words "Download and Install" appear. ---I click that. 3. I "Agree" to terms. The iPad says its downloading. 4. After 5 or so minutes, the error message reads, "Software Update Failed. An error occured downloading iOS 9.2.1."

I am trying to update using wifi (OTA).  The iPad has 32.9 GB available.

    Hope this helps

OK, so you have a couple of options:

    1.     Back up the device to iCloud, and then go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings, and set up the phone as new (not from the backup). Then try to do the update. If it updates successfully, then you can Erase it again and set it up using the backup

    2.     Or, you can hook it up to iTunes on a computer, and update it via iTunes. You can do this using any computer that has iTunes 12.2 or later running, including one at your local Apple Store, if you do not have one at your disposal
