Watch goes into silent mode on its own

Occasionally - not all the time, but often enough to be annoying - my Apple Watch goes into silent mode "on its own". I have NOT used the Settings app or glance to do so, my iPhone is NOT muted, so it's a little mysterious.

Hi Doug

You have likely accidentally placed your watch into Silent Mode by using the Cover to Mute function.

Cover to Mute is a feature that automatically places your watch into Silent Mode if the display is covered for 3 seconds immediately after receiving a notification alert (such as for a text message). When Silent Mode is enabled in this way, haptic feedback is provided as confirmation. The mode must then be turned off manually in order to enable audible alerts again.

To turn off the Cover to Mute function:

- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Sounds & Haptics > turn off Cover to Mute.
