Q: Apple Configurator - used in school

We manage 100 iPads (iOS 9.2.1) using Apple configurator 1.4

We have set configurator to "Allow pairing with non-configurator hosts (supervised only)" as we need to get the photos off the iPads and onto the staff computer.

We can see the iPad as a drive but the DCIM folder is empty or rather the staff computer cannot view the contents as the computer is not trusted.  No "trust this computer" popup appears so we cannot trust the staff computers.

What am I missing here ? Not getting access to the DCIM folder contents is a deal breaker for the school.

    Hi stash59,

I see that you are having some issues with your ability to get the “trust this computer” message on your iPad. I have an article for you about that message, and it can be found here:

    Get help

If you tap Trust or Don't Trust but iOS doesn't accept your answer, or if the Trust alert won't appear, follow these steps. Try again after each:

    1. On your computer, especially with Windows 10, check that you have the latest version of iTunes
    2. Disconnect and reconnect your iOS device.
    3. Restart your iOS device and your computer.
    4. Reset your Trust settings.
    5. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.*

I've run into this issue as well. We have no workaround other than having a Non-Configurator iOS device that allows AirDrop. Just ensure your configuration and restrictions allow AirDrop from your Configurator Profile.

    1. AirDrop to Non-configurator device

    2. Connect it to computer via USB

    3. Open device memory to view media

    4. Select all, cut and paste onto computer. (This will fully remove the pictures from your Non-Configurator device)

Pictures will need to be removed from the Configurated device manually. Just make sure you permanently delete the pictures from the Recently Deleted folder on the device as the final step.

    Boom, kinda done.
