windows 10 and ipod nano 3

I have a bunch of old music on my iPod nano 3 that I want to put on my computer. I have windows 10. It's been years since I've even put music on the iPod, so my memory is faded. I don't think I need to use iTunes, but at this point, I'm not even sure! A link to directions would be great! Thanks

Hi Denise,

Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.

It looks like you want to transfer music from your iPod nano to your PC. You may need to use iTunes but your options will depend on the source of the media that's on your iPod.

What I mean by "the source of the media" is better explained in Sync media between your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and iTunes on your Mac or PC:

Media type Transfer method
Music purchased from the iTunes Store
Music imported from a CD or other source*

Additionally, if all of the original media that you synced to your iPod nano has been lost (because you don't have access to the computer with the original iTunes library, for example) you can refer to the Recommended reply by turingtest2 in this thread--My computer was stolen. Can I recover my music from my iPod?

Best Regards.
