Q: NetRestore hangs with "considerRebuildOfPrelinkedKernel prebuild rebuild has expired" message
I am trying to deploy a customized El Capitan image using System Imaging Utility and OSX Server. I created the image on a Mac Mini (from a fresh El Capitan install updated to 10.11.3), cloned it using Carbon Copy Cloner, checked that it is bootable and created a NetRestore set using System Imaging Utility. OSX Server is perfectly happy to host the image for clients to perform a NetRestore and when I boot a client I can see the network image and initiate the booting. However, if I try the HTTP hosting the booting fails with a number of KDCIHTTP errors and when I try NFS the client stops booting and hangs with the message "considerRebuildOfPrelinkedKernel prebuild rebuild has expired". The clients are identical to the machine used to create the image and in fact I cannot even boot the original Mini from its own image on the network. I have refreshed the kextcache with
kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
kextcache -system-caches
and recreated the image but this made no difference. Any ideas?
