MacBook Air WiFi: No hardware installed

2012ish MacBook Air that has intermittent WiFi access - also is missing Serial Number "Unavailable" in about this Mac working on OS X Yosemite V 10.10.5

I found talk about both these issues. Have tried all suggestions. The Apple Store would be the next step but too far away to bring computer in.

So far...

1. Reset NVRAM

2. Reset SMV

3. Attempted Safe Mode boot

4. Changed setting in Energy Saver preference pane.

5. Scan disk for errors... nothing works.

Even when in safe mode same issue. It is not recognizing a Network other than Bluetooth and the router is not Bluetooth compatible.

Any NEW fix? I have deleted the network attempted to rebuild WiFi but only Bluetooth available. Thoughts?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)
