Feb 25, 2016 3:39 PM in response to njs10acresby Sparkleberry,You should have two choices when opening Elmedia Player:
open (the particular file on your Mac)
open URL
Or drag the file onto top of the icon in your Applications folder or in Dock.

Feb 25, 2016 3:45 PM in response to Sparkleberryby njs10acres,I almost got there. There are 3 chapters to this MP4. The first one started plaing last night, and I'm not sure how I did it. Just now I dragged the ap onto the download and it says it is the right one, but it won't play it. I used both elmedia player and elmedia video player. Although it shows that is what is on there, neither one will actually play it.

Feb 25, 2016 3:50 PM in response to njs10acresby Johnb-one,Might I suggest this. Click on the file and press command+I (for Get info), in the box that opens up, there should be something about open with, and then choose Elmedia player, if that's what you want to use. I'm more of a fan of VLC. Opens darn near everything of that kind, and you might want to drag the elmedia player or the elmedia video player to the the Applications folder, or at least onto the Desktop. Usually that's how it works, you have to try to copy the app to somewhere before it'll start working, you can't just drag the file you want to play on to the downloaded app and hope it works
good luck

Feb 25, 2016 3:54 PM in response to Johnb-oneby njs10acres,Can I just get the VLC from the app store? I remember a long time ago I used to use that.....the tech guy at work recommended that and I forgot about that.

Feb 25, 2016 4:00 PM in response to njs10acresby Sparkleberry,Try starting from Elmedia (either pro or player) and opening up the file from there.
But I have had no problems dropping files on top of Elmedia Player. VLC, as Johnb suggested, is available here.
