Q: Battery Can't charge

Hi my macbook late 2009 with(Not removable battery) is not charging. I thought it was a bad battery problem so i bought a new battery installed it and still no charge. I can only  use it by plugging in my MagSafe charger. (Basically it is using the charger as a power source) So far i have tried removing and reinserting the battery and the steps for resetting SMC on apple's website but the light doesn't change color and the battery isn't still not recognized.

.

I have tried to reset the PRAM which i was able to do and still nothing nada. I've looked up this problem online and other people have it but the solutions given are from the apple website about resetting the SMC which I have religiously followed but can't seem to work I have checked to see if the keys (shift, control, option) work and they do. They just don't reset the SMC. (The light on the charger doesn't change). And above all of that I decided to use the Apple Hardware Test diagnostic tool and it tells me there is nothing wrong  and no hardware problems with my mac. Apart from sending my mac to apple store is there anything I can try to save my mac

MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

It is most likely hardware related.  If you have access to another magsafe, you could try that.  Other wise the possible problems are DC-In Board -internal battery cable- logic board. The apple store could give you some insight into this. The evaluation should be free. You could run thru this ,if helpful. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203207 Also download and run coconut battery.http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/  May tell you if any charge at all is getting to the battery.

That would be the case if Apple Hardware Test diagnostic told me there was an issue but it told me otherwise. Its not even telling me that the battery is missing. Its like i have a ghost in my machine. And yes i have tried coconut battery and it tells there is no battery and other times the battery has zero charge. Also I have tried other MagSafe chargers and the one i am using is a new one; they all have act the same way

You have been given the proper advice from my ginger.  Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation.  Your Macbook does have a hardware problem regarding the battery circuitry.

The Apple Hardware Test simply told you that it could not find anything.  Error free results are not conclusive with an AHT.

    Ciao.
