iMac target display mode

Hello,

I have a late 2009 21.5- inch iMac with mini Display port and would like to use it as a second screen from my mid-2014 15-inch retina Macbook pro that has a thunderbolt port.

Are there any adapters? or ways to work with this?

I have read a lot about the 27 inch iMac, but i need help specifically with the 21.5 inch iMac.

Thank you.

TDM is only supported on 27" 2009 iMacs. If you haven't already, please carefully look over Use your iMac as a display with Target Display Mode - Apple Support. Apple is very clear about this. Your question comes up frequently and unfortunately the answer does not change.

In your case, I would recommend getting an external display to connect to your MBP. I believe you will be disappointed in a VPN solution from a performance point of view.
