The details and instructions to use either of the two Apple Support articles

have additional links within them, and should be read through as a form of

troubleshooting to find and alleviate your browser issues. The method works

and is a good way to learn how to solve the kinds of hidden causes in Safari.

The 'stop popup ads and adware...' covers much more than those two items.

    Good luck & happy computing!

I read the articles.. They had nothing to do with my problem which was beach balling.

    Thanks.

Safari is "beachballing" because your computer is slow.  You don't have enough RAM, and on top of that, you need to get rid of MacCleaner and both torrent clients you have installed.  We both know what torrent clients are used for, and you shouldn't be doing it.

I never used a torrent on this computer even once. That is the problem. You assume that I ran every awful program in existence when they install themselves. You blame the victim. I don't have enough ram. However that does not account of the overnight change in Safari. It doesn't change the fact that most people can't run Photo that has fewer features than iPhoto.  iPhoto runs mush faster and is a much better program in every way.

I know you mean well so thank you. I think I will talk to Apple and see if they can help.

uTorrent and Bittorrent do not install themselves.  You have to physically download them, and you have to physically install them.  Therefore you need to remove them.  As to your preference for iPhoto over Photos, well, there's nothing we can do about that.  iPhoto will eventually stop being supported, and you'll have no choice but to use Photos.  We can't help that.  We're not Apple, and if you take your computer to an Apple store, they're going to tell you the same things we just told you now; you need more RAM, and you need to uninstall the torrent clients.

I completely agreed with everything that PinkStones had to say. Software does not install itself on Mac, you must implement the installation.

The one point I would like to add is where he says that you must eventually go with Photos. That is not absolutely true. It is true that eventually you will have to stop using iPhoto since it is no longer being supported by Apple. But, there are third party solutions available as replacements to iPhotos.

You need to get rid of torrent clients.

    You need more RAM.

You also need to increase the size of the disk drive being used for backup by Time Machine.

How did you reinstall it the last time?

I agree with everything pinkstones and Allen said (the sky is falling) . Unless you bought your iMac used and the torrent programs were already installed or someone broke in to your house and installed them, you had to download and install them.

They did not download and install themselves, you downloaded and installed them. This will get easier if you tell us the truth, we can't help without it

You don't want to use MacCleaner. It something you should avoid because it causes more problems then it solves.

    To uninstall BitTorrent, use https://www.quora.com/How-do-you-properly-uninstall-BitTorrent-Sync-on-Mac-OS-X

    To uninstall uTorrent, use http://howtouninstallonmac.net/uninstall-utorrent-on-mac/

This morning the beachballing on Safari stopped by itself.

When I came here I saw your instructions on removing uTorrent. It wasn't listed in the library or any place else.  I used search in finder and found a uTorrent dmg that I manually removed and emptied the trash.  I wouldn't be surprised if the name comes up again.

I don't have a problem any more the problem went away as suddenly as it came.

That won't do anything at all, unless you want to install it again. uTorrent.dmg is the installer.

I did go to the site in both cases but I never ran them.  People say photo works great and I am crazy. People say I could not have a problem with Safari start suddenly for no reason and stop suddenly either but it did. There was nothing wrong with the computer but not enough ram.  Wouldn't I have had a lot more trouble if I ran utorrent and macclearner.? Believe whatever you want. Thank you anyway.

Believe what you want but someone installed them on your Mac, they made modifications to your Mac that are not good. Your Mac is a mess, do you plan on leaving it that way?

That won't do anything at all, unless you want to install it again. uTorrent.dmg is the installer. I got rid of the installer.  I never installed it. I did go to the site and I must have downloaded the installer but I never installed the program as I said.  If I never installed it couldn't possibly have used it. I probably have a MacCleaner installer some place.  If I ever find it I will put it in the trash.
