The programs ARE installed, look in your Etrecheck report, they are installed and running. What you are doing is a waste of all of our time (and you may need the installer files in order to remove the apps) stop doing things at random, you're making this worse.

Are you actually interested in fixing this mess or not?

That is not what the EtreCheck report says.

You can deny installing it as much as you want but either you or someone else installed it on your Mac.

You need to get rid of the worthless software on your Mac.

Arguing about it will do no good.

If and when you think you have cleaned out all of the worthless software, please run another ErtreCheck report again and post the results here.

If you didn't have the apps, they wouldn't be showing up. And, even if there were a way to reinstall only Safari, it would not improve the functionality of your OS. From your previous comments, it seems clear that you don't appear too interested in any of our suggestions, so here is my last one:

Your Mac is quite a mess. If you want to clean it up, I can only think of a radical suggestion at this point: erase and reinstall from scratch. Make sure to have a backup, but do NOT restore everything from it or you will just port over the things you don't want. Simply copy your user files/movies/pics/etc and otherwise start with a fresh system.

I agree 100%, this Mac is in such a mess that erasing it and starting again is the best approach

Do you understand that the installers for uTorrent/Bittorrent did not magically appear on your computer?  You physically downloaded it and installed it.  Simply having the installer on your hard drive would not show up in your EtreCheck report, the same as any other file you've downloaded onto your computer would not show up.  The EtreCheck report shows INSTALLED programs.  Not downloaded installers that haven't been touched yet.  You've had this explained to you several times now.

I don't know why you can't just own up to having installed torrent clients on your computer.  None of us are going to rat you out to the FBI or anything.  More to the point, you're hardly the first person to have an EtreCheck report show an installed torrent client.  You're acting like we're accusing you of murder or something heinous like that.

May I suggest that you read the ToU; we do not appreciate being called liars. There is also no need to become quite so argumentative.

I downloaded the installer but I never installed it.  How can I prove that I didn't install it or prove that it was installed. Please tell me what proof do you have that I installed it. And what proof do you have that my computer is a mess.  Are you accusing me of lying or being insane and not allow me to defend my self.

You gave us all the proof we need with the EtreCheck report you post it here. It tell us all of this no matter what you claim you did or did not do.

Yes, you did install it.  If you didn't install it, it wouldn't have shown up on your EtreCheck report.  At some point you're going to have to accept that.  EtreCheck does not show the entire contents of your hard drive.  It shows the programs you have installed, the plugins and browser extensions you have installed, any adware/malware that might be installed.....so if uTorrent and BitTorrent were listed in your status report, that means they were installed onto your hard drive.  If you had just downloaded the installer but not actually installed them, they wouldn't have shown up.

How many more times must I say that before it sinks in?  The report doesn't lie.  The report CAN'T lie.  It literally shows us what is installed on your computer.  That is its job.  That's how we can help people that are having problems with this thing or that, because we can see what's there.  I don't care how much you want to argue to the contrary, but you're wrong, and all the stamping of feet and shaking of fists isn't going to change that.

Also, the etrecheck app can remove some kinds of adware, etc.

If used to the fullest capability; so the evidence may not show if

the user had clicked on the remove button in etrecheck, later.

Unless a second report were posted.

{A good way to reinstall Safari would include the preventative measure

of creating a full system clone on an external hard drive, and then use

the another utility to copy/clone or reinstall just that application back in

to the subject computer. CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper utilities are

helpful in creative backups. Pacifist by charlessoft can also extract items

    from an archive and install them from the desktop.}

There are times when the last step update to an OS X may help reinstall

the missing application; there is a chance the entire application is not gone

and the action of an official updater could restore its function again.

Anyway, I'm glad the thread is marked 'solved' without using any suggestions.

    Hello K,

You're right about that and I don't like it. I should continue to show those with a strikethrough or something. Thanks for the good idea!
