Q: Thunderbolt or USB Ethernet adapter stops working after sleep

I have tried both an Apple Thunderbolt Ethernet Adapter and a 3rd party USB 3.0 Hub with ethernet. Both experience the EXACT same problem.

When the machine goes to sleep, upon wake the adapter will NOT connect again to the network. It says the cable is unplugged. I have tried unplugging the ethernet cable, the adapter itself and tried mucking with the hardware settings in the Settings -> Networking -> Advanced settings.

I can see the problem a little more succinctly with the USB Hub.

So if I run kextstat before going to sleep I see the kernel extension loaded.

If I run it after, it is no longer there.
