Q: Time Machine no longer works for my MacBook Pros
I have a Western Digital USB3 disk connected to my Mac mini running Server and functioning as the Time Machine backup device for my MacBook Pros. Since January 7, 2016 I have been unable to do any backups. Time Machine fails with the message "The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features." Western Digital has not been helpful; their only advice is to connect the disk via USB directly to my MacBook Pros (there are 2 in the house), which is completely impractical. I suspect that the disk needs updated firmware due to changes in Mac OS X that requires Apple internet file protocol version 3.3 support that isn't supported by my disk. Can anyone confirm my suspicion?
Safari 9.0, OS X El Capitan (10.11)
