I have a Thunderbolt display that I bought, I believe, in 2011. I have used it with a Mac Mini bought the same year.
I just replaced the Mac Mini with a new MacBook Pro w/ Retina, assuming I could use the display's connector to connect to the laptop. That's sort of true; the Thunderbolt cable connects to the laptop and does everything it is supposed to, but the second display cable I think is supposed to provide power to the laptop. It uses a different connector I guess. In the meantime I have connected my laptop with the supplied power cable.
Is there a different connecting cable that would more elegantly connect my slightly older display to my brand new laptop?
