Q: app store payment info

How do I turn off payment info for App Store? I shoul have to have a payment method to download free apps or update my apps I already have, right?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 9.2.1

If the None option is available, you can follow these instructions to turn it on:

Change or remove your Apple ID payment information - Apple Support
