I tried out the Photos app again - following thread suggesting that this app would import filtered photos from an iPhone. It doesn't, it suffers the same issue as iPhoto. So, I'd like to copy my photo out of Photos and back into a more functional library. How does one do this. Worryingly, when you do Apple/Shift/E for export, there are only options for compressed modified files, not originals.
Pretty simple - file menu ==> export ==> unmodified originals

Sure, but if you design application interface, it pays to not mess up menu items that gave worked fine for over 20 years abd are now inexplicably changed. The Apple ethos is supposed to be about technology that is 'transparent'. Interface obfuscation is the antithesis of this. This issue is bad interface design, not user error.

Strange that a program only 15 years old has a 20 year history (and of course the "feature" you are concerned with was first introduced long after the initial program introduction - about 8 years ago in 2008 I believe )

The Export menu shortcut has been standard prior to iPhoto's inception (the app I assume you are talking about).
I can also remember when trolling was discouraged on the Apple forums. I was only making a comment about the strange and seemingly unneccesary 'feature' of removing one of the export options... from the Export options...
