Q: Contacted about Find my Iphone App Activation and lock out

I was contacted about an old phone I had from my previous employment.  I have not had this job or phone for over a year.  This new person said that it was locked and wanted my Apple ID and Password.  I confirmed she works for the company, but I am still not comfortable giving this info out.  I logged into my Apple account and I have no devices listed, so there are none to erase.  Is it possible she has the wrong previous employee?  How could this app be activated if I don't even have this device on my account any more?  How should I advise on her getting the phone unlocked?
