I lost picture on my 2009 24" Cinema display

I have a 24" Cinema display attached to my 2010 MacBook pro. Been working great for years, screen went blank last night. I have rebooted the Mad and unplugged the power to the display. The Mac detects the display and the picture flickers on occasionally when I plug in the cable.into the Mac. Any suggestions?

MacBook (13-inch), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
