Thanks Niel - now if I can only follow the instructions and do the installation correctly.

Is this installation free or do I have to pay something for the installation?

One, I've asked the Hosts to remove the image you posted as it contains your computer's serial number, and you should never, never make that public and two, I don't know what you mean by "pay for the installation."  You have to buy Windows 10 before you can put it on your computer.  So in that respect, yes, you have to pay for the installation.  If you mean to ask if you have to pay someone to do it for you, no, you don't have to.

Oops! I never thought of that security issue. Dumb! Thanks for your vigilance on my behalf.

Yes - I was inquiring about the cost of the Windows OS - do you know what it costs? Secondly, why is there cost for Windows when the Mac OSX is free?

You'll pay approx $120 for Windows, because Microsoft sells it, not Apple.

Yikes! 120 for an OS! Obviously we Apple users have been spoiled.

Apple users have to pay over $600 to get the OS, Windows users pay far less (but they don't get any hardware)

You're not comparing apples and apples.

Because Microsoft is in the business of selling the Windows operating system

(that's how they make a good chunk of their money) and Apple is in the business

    of selling computers and iDevices.

I don't recall a charge for the OSX when I bought my iMac.

The cost of the OS is part of the amount you paid for the computer.

I'm not sure where the $600 number came from but Csound1 is saying the cost of the OS is part of the cost of buying the computer. One reason Macs tend to be more than the equivalent hardware would be.

Apple sells computers, not operating systems.  That's why you can download them for free, starting with Mavericks.  Windows sells software.  You can install Windows on any PC you want, regardless of the brand, and you can install it on Macs if you use something like Bootcamp.  You cannot install OS X on anything other than an Apple computer.

    That's why.

You had to buy a Mac in order to get the OS, not so for Windows.

Cheapest Mac you can buy is $600 (the mini), that's the lowest price you'll pay for something that includes OS X.
