Mar 3, 2016 1:50 PM in response to CharPattonby bnachison,★HelpfulThis may not be a specifically iBook issue. My iPhone while not actively in use - sometimes even just sitting out on a table on the other side of the room from anybody -- will occasionally randomly turn on a random app for no apparent reason. (This is esp. awkward when it randomly phones some random contact! Or, as you say, starts playing audio.)
I don't know what causes it, and I haven't noticed any patterns in this behavior. I expect if the phone were actually powered off it wouldn't do this, but that sort of obviates the point of having a phone in the first place.

Mar 3, 2016 1:53 PM in response to bnachisonby CharPatton,Interesting thought. I haven't noticed this with anything except iBook, but I notice iBook cuz I am sitting in a quiet meeting room and all of a sudden the untouched phone starts reading aloud, getting everyone's attention; whereas if it just pulled up a non-audible app like a weather forecast I would never notice...

Jul 12, 2016 10:00 AM in response to CharPattonby LehaM,I have the same problem. It's always iBooks (perhaps because 90% the time i listen ibooks not music on that phone) and it it extremely annoying! The worst cases are:
- when I answer an incoming call
- when I am trying to launch a podcast
- when i walk into the range of my bluetooth device
- when i plug in headphones during an existing phone call
I have 5s with the latest iOS version. Please tell us there is a fix for that - it started happening to me in the last 2 weeks and the frequency of occurrences is increasing.

Jul 12, 2016 11:06 AM in response to LehaMby Drew Reece,This sounds like you are all getting random 'false touches' input to the device.
I would check that the headphone connector is clean (it can activate playback of the last played music/ audiobook etc). A toothpick can be carefully used to lift out any lint (don't use anything metal).
The screen should also be clean & free from any detritus or bubbles if you have screen protectors or cases fitted. Remove the case and/ or protector to see if the issue stops.
If you have an iTunes or iCloud backup consider erasing the device & restoring it. Ideally you should test before you restore all your applications, however you can restore them as apps should not be capable of making this type of issue.
Once you have tried the above make an Genius bar appointment at an Apple store - it could simply be a hardware error with the screen digitiser. Have a new backup before you visit the store - they may want to reset the device or replace it altogether if it is in warranty & has a fault.
