Q: Wireless Access Point Dropping MacBooks

My Netgear WNR2000v4 wireless access point (router in AP mode) intermittently gives me "WLAN access rejected: incorrect security" messages and drops MacBooks internet connections.  I think it might have something to do with Apple-related services that causes security problems, but that's a guess.  Any suggestions on fixing this problem?  Details below.

The Netgear log says (XXX = a MAC address for a known MacBook PRO on my network):

[WLAN access rejected: incorrect security] from MAC address XXX, Sunday, February 28, 2016 17:24:14

[Access Control] Device MACBOOKPRO-YYY with MAC address XXX is al the network, Sunday, February 28, 2016 17:08:56

This problem only occurs with the MacBook PRO and 2 MacBook Airs on my network via wireless.  It does not occur with iPad, iPhones, or Windows PCs.  Some days we see no messages but other days we see dozens of the WLAN access rejection messages separated by seconds.

The Netgear WAP is connected to a Motorola (ARRIS) SBG6580 router with it's own wireless network.  The log shows some wireless interference.  The wireless channels of both WAPs have been changed a few times and physical location changed as well.  The SBG6580 no longer shows wireless interference but the WLAN access rejection messages persist.  PnP is turned off on the router.

I've read the forums on the Netgear router community site and this problem goes back to 2010 on a variety of routers but I don't see any good solutions.  I'm hoping one of the Apple experts may have an answer?
