iCal will not sync with Google Calendar after El Capitan Upgrade

I upgraded my wife's MacBook Pro to El Capitan today. We lost the google sync that was set up and now her iPhone and Gmail are in sync, but no calendar entries are syncing to iCal on the Mac. A work-around is to stop using iCal but we liked it. We only have the gmail account on the iCal as a calendar and do not have calendar checked off in the iCloud settings. Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm in the doghouse...

Hi, jdemeritt.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like your Gmail calendar events are no longer showing in Calendar after you upgraded to El Capitan. Let's start with making sure that calendar syncing is enabled under System Preferences > Internet Accounts > Gmail. If this option isn't enabled, please turn this option on and allow a few minutes for the data to download. Check to make sure that the correct Gmail account is added to her internet accounts. Also, make sure to check Gmail.com to verify that these calendar events are present.

OS X El Capitan: Add your Twitter, Facebook, and other Internet Accounts

If the calendar syncing option is enabled, turn off calendar syncing for Gmail and enable it again.

Let me know the outcome of these steps.

Cheers

Thank you for the response. I did check those items in the Calendar and they were all set up ok. In Yosemite I also had a little sync circle in the top grey panel that I could push to have it refresh on the Mac. That disappeared in the El Capitan conversion. So, I deleted the gmail account completely from the Mac and made sure the entire calendar was gone. I then re-established the account and set the preferences and refresh timing and it seems to be working ok. I tested a few items back and forth and the events updated ok. There is a refresh calendars in a dropdown menu on the screen that seems to be doing the work the little sync circle did in Yosemite. Anyway, I wanted to share that. Thanks again,

John

I had the same issue and found an easy fix (after trying too many complicated ones.)

Go to System Preferences > Internet Accounts

Select Google, then click the minus sign. This removes the account from access to mail, calendars, etc.

Now open Calendar.

Go to Calendar > Preferences > Accounts

Click the plus sign, select Google, and enter your Google email and password.

Now under Accounts, select Google and Enable this account.

I hope it works for those of you who found this conversation and haven't yet found the fix!
