Q: Extended display for 27 inch iMac 5K

I am looking to upgrade to a 27 inch iMac 5K, but can't bear to ditch my current iMac (21.5 inch, late 2012, running OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.2) for it. Will it be possible to use my current old iMac as an extended display to create an extended desktop for the new 27 inch iMac 5K?

Yes I have seen this page, but I have been getting different responses from the various Apple retailers I have consulted. The issue is with the 27 inch iMac 5K not being able to be used as the external display, but what if I am using my late 2012 21.5 inch iMac as the display? Will this setup work?

That won't work.

Your first post said that you were using the 2012 21.5" iMac as an external display for the new iMac. That will work.
