Q: Apple TV (4th Generation) apps

I have just ordered my second Apple TV (4th Generation).  Is there a way to copy the apps I have on my first one, or do I have to 're-load' them all on the new one?

Apple TV (4th generation), tvOS 9.1.1, null

You will need to reload them. Rather than built in as they are on the older models, apps have to be downloaded or purchased for the 4th generation device.

I am somewhat disappointed with this because I have noticed that when I load entertainment apps on my Apple TV, they are automatically downloaded to my iPad.  I realize that what you're telling is the current state of affairs with Apple TV, put I can imagine many scenarios where an organization would want to clone a number of Apple TVs to be the same.

Turn off automatic downloads on the iPad (Settings app > iTunes&App stores).

As for "cloning" AppleTVs, that can still be accomplished through Apple Configurator I would image (and frankly is probably a rare occurrence).
