Dear Eric, account information gets me to the password for the imap server but not the outgoing smpt server. I still need to get there.
Unless your e-mail account is completely different than any e-mail account I've ever had, the password is the same for the outgoing and incoming server.
What problem(s) are you having?
What does Mail/Window/Connection Doctor Show? If the server is red, select it and look at the Show Details box.

I also have exactly the same problem as Dendriman. I used to be able to navigate via Mail>Accounts and then elect the account on the left and I would see full details of my account and incoming mail server and I could also select the Outgoing mail server at the bottom and it would take me to the Outgoing server details where I could set up my password but now that my mail has been rebuilt (since upgrading to El Capitain I have had issues with blank emails) all I can see when I select an account is Description, Name, Password and Use with (Mail and/or Notes). No way of getting to my SMPT password.
Incoming and outgoing passwords are definitely different as I send emails from my own domain so need to subscribe to an SMTP service that allows me to email from anywhere in the world.
See the troubleshooting information — that generally gets mail working, except when there's a mail server problem or a network problem.
As for the SMTP mail server settings...
Mail.app > Mail > Preferences > Accounts > select account > Account Information > select Edit SMTP Server List from the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) popup > select the SMTP server you want to change > Advanced > enter the settings for the SMTP server.
Deleting the entire account entry and recreating it can be easier, though.
Mail/Preferences/Account/Account Information.
