Sony EX1 import problem

I have just recently bought an iMac 27 running 10.10.5 Yosemite. I have FCPX 10.2.3. I have installed the update Pro Video Formats version 2.0.4. All I want to do is get up a running and I thought I was set up.

I connected my Sony EX1 and with FCPX open I turned the camera to media. This brought up the media import window. My camera screen asked me to "Connect USB now? I clicked execute and the media import window sees it under Cameras as Untitled and Untitled 1. I just get a spinning wheel and then nothing. Eventually I have to Force Quit and it says FCPX is not responding.

Please, please help , as you can guess I am really new to FCP but I did have an earlier version and I imported via XDCAM TRANSFER. I had no problem them but now I am totally stuck and cannot see anywhere to go

Many thanks

Dave

Hi, Many thanks. I think that this has sorted out my difficulty. I have a project starting in my school tomorrow night and I should be able to confirm it fully then. What was a major confusion for me was the fact that the update to FCPX stated that there was native support for the Sony camera. I guess that this is not fully resolved as yet. I am now looking forward to fully getting to grips with the FCPX programme rather than struggling with the import at the first hurdle.

Many thanks

Dave
