Disable Auto Complete in Safari

At present there is no option available for turning off auto completing url address.

Safari takes that information from history and bookmarks folders.

One known workaround is to press spacebar before entering the address in the search bar.

"Autocomplete" is based on "Autofill."

Question:

Do you want spelling corrections to be stopped?

Predictive guesses? That a setting in Sys Prefs> Keyboard> Text: Turn off "Correct spelling automatically."

@dominic23: Your's is the correct answer. "At present there is no option available for turning off auto completing url address." Too bad Apple won't mark your answer as "Helpful". I voted it as helpful, but that did not elevate it to getting a "Helpful" red star on the page. Why can't we just stop autocomplete all together? My guess is that Apple collects everyone's URL keystrokes, even incomplete ones, to add to their databases on USER behavior, which they then sell to advertisers. It's a revenue stream, so yeah, no way are they going to shut that down. Of course, that's just my guess.

Safari > Preferences > AutoFill > AutoFill web forms:

Uncheck the boxes beside all those 4 available options.

You can reduce suggestions by going to Safari/Preferences/Search/Smart Search Field and unchecking all the boxes.

WRONG. The keyboard preferences have NO effect on URL suggestions in Safari.
