Q: how to monitor desktop with Apple Remote desktop without needing desktop user approval?

I have a classroom with 40 iMac desktops for students with 10.10.5 and a teacher's iMac desktop wth 10.8. I would like to monitor or control the 40 desktops from the teacher's desktop with Apple Remote Desktop without the students having to click OK to "approve" the connection.

In System Preferences - Sharing, on the student desktops I have Printer Sharing and Remote Management. I've also tried removing the check from Remote Management and checking Screen Sharing instead. Either way, the student has to "approve".

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

On your client/end user machines try checking your Remote Login and Remote Management settings in:   > System Preferences > Sharing

Remote Login - ensure that at least "Allow access for: Only these users: Administrators" is enabled

That way other non-admin accounts cannot remote in with a shared password, etc.

Remote Management - ensure that "All access for: All Users" is enabled AND the options button will be selectable. Click on Options... then hold the option key and click on one of the check boxes OR select the ones you'd like allowed for the admin mac to be able to see/function on client systems.

OR you can select "Allow access for: Only These Users:" and select the local admin account and then click Options, that way it grants the privileges for admins only versus any user who has a password to the machines.

I tried to setup 10 of the 40 desktops, only had success with 2.

In the Remote Login setting, I would add "Administrators", then exit System Preferences, then open it again, and "Administrators" is no longer in the list (Tried this several times). I tried to check "All Users". Still only 2 of the 10 are connecting. When I can't connect, I get a message telling me that Screen Sharing is not selected (It's not).

All settings are identical, all are on the same internal network, all 40 desktops are cloned from the same image.

Can you provide a screen shot of your Mac sharing pane?

Screen sharing preference should be unchecked as Remote Login and Management have redundant processes.

This is how they should appear:

    1) Remote Login must be enabled - Select either All Users or Only These Users and select the Administrator

    2) Remote Management also must be enabled - Select either All Users or Only These Users and select an Administrator then follow Step 3

    3) Click on Options... and option click one of the check boxes to simultaneously select all options or individually click each option you need/require

The machines are shut down every night, so restarting wouldn't make a difference, but I tried anyway. When I try to connect to any other machines other than #4 and #5, I get this error msg:

We have partial success. I had to configure each desktop for Screen Sharing, connect to it from the Teachers desktop, then turn off Screen Sharing and turn on Remote Management.

Only one desktop will not connect, in the Remote Desktop display it says Access Denied, which is strange. 39 out 40 isn't bad.

    Thanks for the help Applexometa
