MacBook Pro (NEW) does not recognize SuperDrive. Both are new. SuperDrive does not show in the Finder. I've restarted the computer with the drive attached. No change. I've checked preferences to make sure the CD/DVD is checked.

What model Superdrive is it? Was it sold for explicit use on a MBP?
IIRC, in the past when the first Airs came out, there was a Superdrive that was for exclusive use on them. Would not work anywhere else.
USB SuperDrive Model A1379 It's what they sold me when I bought my MacBook Pro at the Apple Store.
Dumb question......do I need to put a disc in the drive before it will read it? I am thinking once I plug it in it would show as an external drive. Maybe not?
Okay.....I'm a moron. Answered my own question. Yes...you have to actually insert a disc into the drive in order for it to show up as a peripheral!
