Feb 29, 2016 1:51 PM in response to Thor737by Allan Eckert,Boot Camp will not allow that.
It is possible that one of the many Windows emulators for Mac might allow you to run using such a disk configuration.

Feb 29, 2016 2:00 PM in response to Thor737by Allan Eckert,Sorry no. I don't allow anything from Microsoft anywhere near my Macs.
You might get a hint if you hang out for a while over on the Boot Camp forum. The Windows gurus over there do discuss emulators from time to time.

Feb 29, 2016 4:18 PM in response to Thor737by my ginger,Here are 4 ways to use windows on a Mac. One of then is for an external drive. Pay attention that you will need the use of a windows computer and a blank hard drive. If you google search you can find more on it. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/4-ways-get-windows-mac/ Here is another. http://twocanoes.com/winclone/support/migrate-windows-8-to-an-external-drive-usi ng-winclone-4.3-and-later

Mar 1, 2016 5:27 AM in response to Thor737by Csound1,You can run Windows on an external disk via Parallels if you want. See this article: http://kb.parallels.com/en/122874
Frankly why not go to Best Buy and purchase a cheap Windows PC, it will far superior to any method involving your Mac, and only slightly more expensive

Mar 3, 2016 6:19 AM in response to Thor737by Sizo93,★HelpfulI would recommend using open source bit of emulation software called VirtualBox, from Oracle. It’s pretty robust and works almost as well as the more costly solutions like Parallels or VMWare Fusion. I added the link below for you.

Mar 3, 2016 6:29 AM in response to Thor737by Thor737,Thanks all for the advice. I ended up installing Windows 10 via Bootcamp. Someone here wondered why I didn't just buy a cheap PC to use. I ended up buying a new MacBook w/ 256 GB. I have wanted a new laptop for some time now and I got rid of all my PC/Android stuff some years ago. You can find some Youtube instructional video's that walk you thru loading Windows 10 via Bootcamp, however, there are some drivers that will cause problems when the Bootcamp portion of the installation begins, so beware. It is a fairly easy fix involving opening the Bootcamp folder in the download file and deleting the offending files before beginning the install. Otherwise, the MacBook handles it very nicely! I only need the Windows option for the month I will be in training and after that will delete Windows forever! For now, the Windows option works with the interactive training website that I need to use so, problem solved.
Thank you all for your help with this issue.
