Q: How does one select type and/or drag a window using the magic trackpad?

How does one select type and/or drag a finder window using the magic trackpad? I can't find the finger combinations to do either. Thanks in advance

Are you using the older Apple Magic Trackpad or the new Apple Magic Trackpad 2?

The Trackpad 2 is only compatible with OS X 10.11 El Capitán and NOT older versions of OS X.

I'm using the older Magic Trackpad. I have just updated to El Capitan. I'm on a 27"  iMac, late 2012, with 8 GB of ram. In trying to use the trackpad I tap on the window title bar, but I can't drag anything. Nor can I select type to delete or correct what I've written. I can only backspace.

Having you checked the trackpad settings in OS X System Preferences App?

Have you tried simply unplugging and repluggng in the Trackpad?

How about doing a restart of your iMac?

Ahhh, I think I've got it. I didn't realize that the trackpad had to be pressed so hard to register a click. It actually moves up and down like a mouse rather than rather than reacting to pressure like the trackpad on a laptop. I had been using it on a mouse pad and my pressure was being absorbed by the pad and not letting the trackpad actually click. I have it on a hard surface now, and everything seems to be working. I can't just tap. Have to really push down to click.

Thanks for your help. I would have just put it away as a lost cause if you hadn't replied. Have a good evening.
