Q: Can Windows 10 be installed on Boot Camp Version 4.1

Hi,

Can Windows 10 be installed on Boot Camp Version 4.1? Everytime I do a search this page comes up which show how to upgrade but than I read that Windows 10 requires an updated version of Boot Camp (v6).

Or better yet is Boot Camp 6 out yet? If yes, how do I update my Boot Camp?

FYI- This is what I did to get the Boot Camp version, I went to my Windows partition right-click the Boot Camp icon and click the About Boot Camp button and I got 4.1.

I'm running Windows 7 on Mac OSX El Capitan.

Any advice?

If you already have W7 installed you can upgrade to W10 in-place. Bootcamp may be necessary if you need to re-install W10. If your Mac model is not listed in the link you found, Apple does not officially support W10 on your Mac, which implies that there are no certified W10 drivers for your Mac model.

Please back up OS X, switch to Windows, create a Windows System Restore point, use Microsoft Media Creation tool to get an ISO and run an in-place upgrade. If you run into any issues, please post back on this discussion.

Thank you for the tip. I'm planning to use Winclone to backup my Windows partition.
