Q: Can't login under 10.6

I bought Facetime from the AppStore on a 10.6.8 machine. I can't login though - always told my password is wrong. Eventually it tells me I have my password wrong too many times and I have to change it (with a link to the appleid management site).

I have 2 factor authentication enabled and am using app specific passwords. It works fine on my 10.8 machine. I have tried recreating the app password a few times but with no luck.

Intercepting the communication between Facetime and the Apple auth server I see the error message is:

status = 5012, DS login failed with code=-20101

I can't find any documentation about the error codes though. The dserr command doesn't know them. I have tried ringing Apple support (before I had the error codes - when I was just using the error message given by Facetime) but they didn't know. :-( I guess I can try ringing again now I have the code...
