is my 2011 MacBook up gradeable

I have a 2008 MacBook, Ser. # W8827HCT0P1, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 160 GB ATA Drive, 2GB 667 MHz running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5. Can I up grade to OS X El Capitan by installing more memory or whatever. It's a back-up that I use when we travel and I love it.
