Time Machine is software on your Mac that is used to back up your Mac to a Time Capsule, which is hardware.

So, chances are, it is your Time Capsule that is flashing amber.  The Time Capsule and other Apple routers will display a flashing amber light when a setting needs to be adjusted.

To find out why your Time Capsule is flashing amber........

On your Mac.....open Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility

Click on the picture of the Time Capsule

Look for a setting for Status in the smaller window that appears

What is the message next to Status that you see?

For more information about the issue, click on the small amber dot next to the Status message and additional instructions will appear.

Click on the small amber dot next to Double NAT for more information.

Here is what you will need to do:

    Open AirPort Utility again

Click on the picture of the Time Capsule

Click Edit in the smaller window that appears

Click the Network tab at the top of the next window

Change the setting for Router Mode from DHCP and NAT to "Off (Bridge Mode)"

Click Update at the lower right of the window

Allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart and display a nice, bright green light

Did you go through the process to set up and configure the Time Capsule.......naming a network, naming a device, setting up passwords, etc.?

If not, you will need to follow the instructions in the Setup Guide that came with the Time Capsule to accomplish this task.

Not sure what has gone wrong as the problem only started when I had to change my internet modem which has a different password

Could you please answer the question that I asked in my previous post?

And, when you changed the modem, did you go through the process to set up and configure the Time Capsule......naming a network, naming the device, setting up password, etc?

If not, you will need to perform a Hard Reset on the Time Capsule and then follow the instructions in the Setup Guide that came with the Time Capsule....to set it up again to work with the new modem.
