Q: iTunes wants to update my already up-to-date iPhone
(What I have... MacBook 2015, OSX 10.11.3 with all the latest updates. iPhone 6S Plus w/iOS 9.2.1)
I updated my iPhone to 9.2.1 shortly after it's release.
This past Sunday, I connected my iPhone to my MacBook and iTunes tells me iOS 9.2.1 is available and asks if I want to download/install.
I have connected my iPhone to my MacBook several times after I upgraded and this hasn't happened until now.
Has anyone seen this; have a cure; or an idea how to fix this?
TIA!
B
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

There was a subsequent update to iOS 9.2.1 (midway through February) for devices with Touch ID to deal with error 53 (If you see error 53 and your iPhone or iPad gets stuck on the 'Connect to iTunes' screen - Apple Support) - Apple kept the new version as 9.2.1, though they gave it a new build number (the number that shows after the version number in Settings > General > About > Version on the phone).
Updating (after taking a backup and copying purchases over to your Mac's iTunes library) to the new version via your computer's iTunes will get your phone up-to-date (as far as I know the new version won't show in Settings > General > Software Update, so you can't update directly on the phone).
