Unable to connect to Canon iR 3225

Hi

I am using a Macbook Pro which I recently upgraded to OS 10.11.3. My office is having a network printer Canon iR 3225. I am having issues connecting the printer and doing wireless printing. I first doubted that there may be compatability issues however when I connected the printer through USB it works fine.

The printer is getting added but it gives me an error. I downloaded the printer driver from Canon website (link pasted below).

It is a IP printer and my Mac & printer is on same network. (Printer is on LAN and Mac is on Wifi).

Can someone please help ?

With the iR3225 being networked, the main thing to be aware of is the supported protocols. When creating the network printer you cannot use IPP. You either need to select Line Printer Daemon-LPD or HP Jet Direct-Socket. If you are not sure what protocol you used when creating the network printer the easiest thing to do would be to delete this network printer and create again, ensuring you select one of the supported protocols.

The other thing to be aware of is the supported driver. The iR32xx series supports Canon's proprietary UFR2 printer language by default. There is also optional PCL and Postscript printer kits available. If your machine only has the base UFR2 kit installed, then you will only be able to use the UFR2 printer driver. Given that you were able to print when the device was connected via USB I will assume you have the correct driver installed on the Mac.

Also, I noticed that Canon USA has not listed the latest version of the UFR2 driver, which is v10.9.0. So here is a link to that driver from Canon Australia.
