How do you share one iTunes library which is located on a desktop drive with Three Mac computers?

Are the three Macs all your computers? Or are they used by different people (with different Apple IDs)?
Do you need all the Macs to be able to update the one iTunes library, or is one of them the primary user and the others just need "read-only" access?
