How would I update my MacMini (2.4 GHz, 2 GB memory, OSX 10.6.8) to one that can use iCloud and newer iTunes?

However, with only 2 GB of RAM it will be slow. Your Mac supports 16 GB (2x8 GB). I would as min replace one 1 GB stick with one 8 GB stick.

This place sells compatible memory and provides installation videos. Macs are picky about memory

Many Mac users using Snow Leopard for all of these years, have no idea that they may be continuing to use older PowerPC applications because of the transparent miracle of Rosetta.


As pointed out to you, you will lose Rosetta in the upgrade. Also the upgrade will effectively destroy your Snow Leopard environment, so in ALL situations be sure to make at least one backup.


I also recommend for these reasons that you either partition your hard drive or use an external hard drive and install the OS X upgrade there. Then you can use the "dual-boot" method to boot and run either of your flavors of OS X, including Snow Leopard, when and if needed.
