Q: how to i reinstall the installation cds.  I am donating my old macbook to the school and want to remove all my information

i want to set my macbook back to factory settings and remove or erase all information.  i have the panther cds and maybe tiger.  how to i reset my macbook?

    Click here and follow the instructions. When you reach step 5, insert a compatible install disk, restart with the C or Option key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS.


    The Panther disks aren't compatible, and unless the Tiger ones originally came with that MacBook or are for the Mac OS X Server Universal Binary, aren't compatible either.

    I found my snow leopard disk.  So I am all set
