View RAW and JPEG as two separate photos?

Hi there

Understand that Photos automatically stacks RAW + JPEGS as one photo. Wondering if you guys have found a way to:

1. View RAW and JPEG as separate individual photos?

2. If this is not possible, is there a way to set Photos' default to show the RAW version as the thumbnail/main photo for each stack?

Am currently trying to figure out a way to efficiently create a workflow involving Photos + Lightroom (for raw edits), as well as jpegs/raws

Thanks!

You can do that by selecting the stacked photo and then enter the command ⌘D to duplicate it. You will now see two separate versions of the same photo. Open the first version in Edit mode and use the command "Image > Use RAW as original" to use the RAW file as the original image file, then select the second version and in Edit mode and use the command "Image > Use JPEG as original" to use the JPEGfile as the original image file.

You can now see both image versions separately in the browser. Duplicating will only duplicate the previews, not the original image files. But you can now edit the RAW and the JPEG separately.

There is no option in the user interface to have the RAW version as the default.

Select the photo and duplicate (command D) - then click on edit and set one to use RAW as original - this will give you two versions side by side one using RAW as the original for editing and one using the JPEG as the original for editing

The efficient way to resolve this in Photos is to not shoot RAW plus JPEG - shoot ony the one you want

As to an efficient work flow to use LightRoom and Photos together - that is not possible - they both do the same thing in totally different ways and each must have its own database - they can not share photos or editing - the photos must be imported into each separately and they will always remain separate
