Did I ruin my iPod Touch?

Earlier I was charging my Touch and at the same time decided to update to the newest OS X version while the iPod was charging. When I did this, a window popped up on the Mac prompting some sort of action but I instinctively exed out of it without even being able to read what it said. A moment later a triangle with '!' appeared next to the iPod icon in iTunes and then both the iPod icon and the ! triangle disappeared.

Does the ! triangle mean I messed up something in my iPod? After the update, the iPod (which I never disconnected physically), reappeared as an ejectable icon on iTunes and resumed normal charging.

However, given that yanking your iPod cable can result in damaging the flash drive and internal aspects of the iPod, I'm wondering if this ! triangle thing and my iPod icon disappearing means the Mac interpreted it and treated it as being suddenly disconnected without being properly ejected. I'm worried about how this may have affected it or shortened its lifespan?

It is an iPod Touch 6G. Brand New.

Help? Ideas?

Thanks

iPod touch, iOS 9.2.1, 6G
