Mar 2, 2016 2:17 PM in response to Damnitdonnby FoxFifth,No they won't. The syncing is done through iCloud (see Settings > ICloud > Contacts, Calendars, etc on the phone and Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud on the Mac).
A MacBook does not and cannot backup to iCloud. If the message you are getting is referring to an iPhone or iPad not being able to backup to iCloud and you want to turn off those backups, you can do that via Settings > iCloud > Backup.
