Q: How can I transfer the ownership of MBP with Apple Care Plan to a different apple id?

Hi, I am using the office MacBookPro with my own apple id, but I don't own it. The problem is that I should not put the Apple Care Plan under my apple id but I did without knowing it. Now my question is how can I transfer it to my office's apple id. Thanks.

The extended Applecare Plan goes with the serial number of a product/device; so, as long as your  MBP is registered as your company's machine, then all should be well. When you register the APP online, it allows you to choose a device to "attach" it to - is it attached to that MBP?

Yes, the Apple Care plan is attached to that MBP. From where can I know that the MBP is registered as my company's machine? Thanks.

Was it purchased directly from Apple using the company's name/address? Then it would be registered to the company. If not, did you use the company's name/address to register it online? Or how was it registered? I suggest you check with your company to see how it was purchased and/or have them check their invoice/receipt from Apple.

It was purchased from the Apple store by my company, so the receipt has my company's name and address on it. But recently my company gave me the apple care plan to add with this MBP. Then I added the apple care plan with this MBP using my apple id ( the thing is that my apple id has my own name and address). Then I was informed that I was supposed to add the care plan to the MBP using company's public apple id. But I can use the MBP with my own apple id, cause that's synced with all my favorite apps. Therefore, now I am trying to transfer the apple care plan to my company's public apple id but still use this MBP using my personal apple id. It may sounds complicated, but thanks ahead for your answer.

No, it isn't complicated - you should have simply registered the plan under the correct owner - you better call Apple; they would need to get involved.

    http://www.apple.com/contact/

I'd try the online Apple store and ask to be transferred to the Applecare department; or, on the right there is a number for business users - try that.

FWIW, since this is your company's machine, then you probably shouldn't have it synced/used with your favorite apps. It's dangerous mixing Apple IDs especially if the machine isn't your property.

Thanks, bobowa.  I called in apple support and after 2-3 transfers, the problem is fixed.
