Q: Existing website doesn't work anymore after installing OSX server

I have a website on my mac-mini that resides at /Library/WebServer.  It has Perl cgi pages, images, css files, Javascript.

I installed Mac Server so I could use the mac-mini as a place for Time-Machine on my laptop to save to via wifi.  Now the webpage has moved and has a different configuration I can't figure out. Before I had a /Library/WebServer directory with sub-directories Documents, CGI-Executables, Lib, Pictures and  Templates. Now it seems the html files live at /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/Default and I have no idea where the other files go.  Apache doesn't work either.  Turning off the websites option just disables the website address completely.  Entering http://localhost just gives an error message saying that websites are disabled.

I didn't want to change my website, I just wanted the Time-Machine capabilies.  I put a lot of work into my website and I would like to get my it back.

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3), Server version 5.0.15

Not a good situation, unfortunately.    You're either going to be learning how OS X Server works, or you'll want to remove OS X Server and maybe acquire a Time Capsule.  (The ac-class AirPort Wi-Fi devices also support Time Machine.)

OS X Server expects local DNS to be established — you can't use ISP DNS, if you're on a NAT'd network — and OS X Server expects you'll be placing your files in the /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites locations, or making whatever directory your web site is stored in into a site within Server.app.

In either case, you'll need to make your website readable by the _www user.
