Mar 2, 2016 6:35 PM in response to Kappyby NickSpec101,Here's the thing: I don't have the Windows 8 kit, or product key. I just have an ISO file I download from the internet. However, it says I need an installation disc. I was going to use an ISO file, why does it just say I need a disk?!

Mar 2, 2016 6:51 PM in response to NickSpec101by Kappy,Because Windows must be installed from an optical drive. You must have a bootable installer DVD. What you want to do is not only illegal, it cannot be done without special software used to make a bootable USB flash drive.

Mar 2, 2016 7:03 PM in response to Kappyby NickSpec101,I thought it was perfectly legal to use an ISO file for Windows? I did it for windows 10 on my macbook air... is that somehow different? Or is that illegal too? I mean, I learned about it from fairly well-known websites..
Also, if I bought the product key online (you know, Windows 8.1 package), would that be legal? I still wouldn't have the installer disc..
