My brother-in-law for my nephews (ages 10 and 13) iPad mini 2's for Christmas, and I helped set up their Family Sharing, wi Ask to Buy restrictions on their app purchases. My brother-in-law has an old version 1 iPad running iOS 5, but otherwise he's strictly a PC guy, with a laptop running Windows 7. How the heck does Ask to Buy work if the parent is on Windows? Descriptions of Family Sharing say the parent will be notified when the child requests to buy an app, and we assumed it would be via an email, but no emails have been forthcoming, and the kids are super frustrated.
Does Apple require the parent/administrator of the Family Sharing to have an iDevice? Is our only option to remove parental approval from their devices entirely, for a 10 year old and 13 year old?
