I store photos taken on my iPhone 6 in iCloud. How can I set up my iMac OSX 10.6.8 so that I can view them in iPhoto '11 v 9.2.3(629.52)?

Once I do that will it mean waiting long to see the ones I want to view?

Can I store the 33,000 photos already in iPhoto in the iCloud and then access them on my iPhone?

If you are talking about iCloud Photo Library the only way you can view it on OS X 10.6.8 is using Safari ==> www.icloud.com ==> Photos -- you an view or upload photos there

To us ICPL to sync to your devices with your Mac your need Yosimite or El Captain and Photos on your Mac - iPhoto '11 does not have the ability to access ICPL

Capacity 999.86 GB Available 613.17 GB

This is well short for El C which needs 8.8GB less the 10% you recommend.

208.46 GB are taken up with my iPhoto Library and 1.01 GB with My Pictures which is the reason for my first question asking if I can store them on the iCloud.

Would you recommend storing them on 2 external drives (one as a backup) and then doing the upgrade to El C?
