Audible authorisation impossible

When trying to add my Audible books to iTunes, I can only play them if my computer/iTunes is authorised to do so. When iTunes then directs me to the Audible website, it sends me to the UK site, not the .com site. My Audible account, however, is on the .com site. So I can never authorise iTunes to play my Audible files, it seems? It just does not direct me to the proper site for authorisation.

This is a user to user support site. I'm not speaking for Apple. I've never bought anything from Audible so I cannot personally test behaviour. Trying to access audible.com from here I find myself redirected to amazon.co.uk too, suggesting that Amazon now own Audible, and they perform automatic location based redirection of web queries. It is just possible that this has broken the authorization process in iTunes. Of course the problem could be caused by Apple rather than Audible/Amazon, nevertheless Audible's customer support might still be the best place to raise the issue and get help until it is fixed.
